How omnichannel communication works
The difference from multichannel is integration. A multichannel business offers several channels, but each runs separately: the phone notes live in one place, emails in another, chats in a third. Omnichannel links them through a shared contact record and a shared inbox, so context follows the customer.
For AI assistants, omnichannel also means one knowledge base. Update a price once and every channel gives the new answer, instead of a website bot and a phone script drifting apart.
Example: a property manager’s residents
A resident calls a property management office about a broken dishwasher, then texts a photo an hour later and emails the lease question that came up. With an omnichannel setup, all three land on the same resident’s contact, so whoever picks it up sees the call summary, the photo, and the email together. This scenario is illustrative.
Omnichannel in InsertChat
InsertChat runs one assistant across phone calls, website chat, SMS, email, and WhatsApp, answering from one knowledge base with the same handoff rules. Every conversation lands in the shared inbox and on the customer’s contact record with notes, tasks, and appointments.
Each channel has its own setup, and SMS and WhatsApp can carry their own charges. InsertChat doesn’t support Messenger, Instagram, or Telegram. See the property management setup.
