Research the funder's mission statement, strategic plan, and recent grants. Reference specific language from their priorities or funding guidelines that connects to your project. Avoid using a generic template that does not reference the specific funder, including too much detail that belongs in the proposal narrative, being vague about the amount requested, using jargon or acronyms without explanation, and forgetting to proofread.
