Data access

Reads

What InsertChat reads

  • The selected assistant and the message supplied by the Zap
  • Assistant response stream required to return the completed result
  • No broad workspace or customer-data export claim

Writes

What InsertChat writes

  • An assistant message request and returned response through the supported Zapier action
  • Any downstream CRM, email, spreadsheet, or notification write is owned by the configured Zap
  • No automatic call-trigger or unrestricted workflow claim

Working workflow

One reviewed path from conversation to outcome

  1. 1A Zap trigger supplies a structured message to the selected InsertChat assistant.
  2. 2InsertChat processes the message and returns the collected response result.
  3. 3Zapier passes approved fields into the next configured step.
  4. 4Failures remain visible in the Zap run and do not imply downstream completion.

Setup

  1. 1Connect the InsertChat Zapier app to the intended workspace.
  2. 2Select the assistant and map the input message fields.
  3. 3Add downstream Zap steps only for the approved outcome.
  4. 4Test success, invalid assistant, missing fields, timeout, and downstream failure.

Limitations

  • The supported repository action sends a message to an assistant; other actions require separate verified implementation.
  • Zapier owns downstream app authentication, retries, field mapping, and task usage.
  • Sensitive fields should not be forwarded unless the complete Zap has been reviewed and authorized.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm the workspace connection and selected assistant identifier.
  • Inspect required input fields and the returned Zap run error.
  • Test downstream steps independently before attributing failure to InsertChat.
