Data access

Reads

What InsertChat reads

  • Calendar and event data allowed by the selected tool permissions
  • Availability required for the configured booking workflow
  • Existing event identifiers needed for an enabled update or cancellation path

Writes

What InsertChat writes

  • Confirmed calendar events after the customer approves the booking details
  • Event updates only when the update tool is explicitly enabled and tested
  • Event deletion only when the delete tool is explicitly enabled and tested

Working workflow

One reviewed path from conversation to outcome

  1. 1Customer requests an appointment in website chat or on the phone.
  2. 2InsertChat collects required details and checks the configured availability path.
  3. 3The customer confirms a slot before the event is created.
  4. 4The conversation records the success or routes a failed confirmation to follow-up.

Setup

  1. 1Connect the intended Google account through the workspace integration flow.
  2. 2Enable only the calendar tools required for the booking workflow.
  3. 3Define service, duration, timezone, availability, confirmation, and fallback rules.
  4. 4Test website, phone, update, cancellation, and connection-failure scenarios.

Limitations

  • A suggested time is not a confirmed appointment until the calendar write succeeds.
  • Permissions, timezone, event ownership, recurrence, and conferencing depend on the selected Google tools.
  • Delete and update actions remain disabled unless the business intentionally enables and tests them.

Troubleshooting

  • Reconnect OAuth when the account or granted scopes changed.
  • Verify the assistant has the intended calendar tools, timezone, and target calendar.
  • When a write fails, do not claim confirmation; collect follow-up details and inspect the tool result.
