# Squarespace AI Chatbot: Code Injection Setup

> Install the AI chat widget on Squarespace with Code Injection.

To add an AI chatbot to Squarespace, paste your InsertChat install code into the Footer field of the Code Injection panel and click Save. Squarespace offers code injection on Core, Plus, Advanced, and some legacy plans. The chat then answers visitors from your site content, books appointments, and captures leads.

## From a portfolio visit to a booked consultation

A visitor browsing your Squarespace portfolio asks whether you take projects in their area and what a first consultation involves. The assistant answers from your services page and FAQs, collects their details and project notes, and books the consultation in your connected calendar. Your team sees the whole conversation on the new contact.

## Where the code goes in Squarespace

- Location: Code Injection → Footer
- Requirements: Squarespace offers code injection on the Core, Plus, Advanced, and some legacy billing plans. Footer code loads before the closing body tag on every page; checkout pages don’t support custom code.
- Source: [Squarespace: Using code injection](https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815908-Using-code-injection), checked 2026-10-13

A website install adds the chat to your pages without signing in to your Squarespace account or reading its data.

## Setup

1. **Copy your install code.** Open your assistant’s website install settings in InsertChat, choose HTML or custom website as your website platform, and copy the installation code.
2. **Add it to Code Injection.** Open the Code Injection panel, paste the code into the Footer field, and click Save. Squarespace adds footer code to every page of your site.
3. **Verify and test.** Run Verify on your website in InsertChat with the published URL of a Squarespace page, then open the chat and ask the questions your customers ask most.

## How businesses use Squarespace with InsertChat

Illustrative examples, not customer results.

- **Qualify design inquiries before the first call.** A homeowner asks whether you take single-room projects. The assistant explains your process from your services page, collects the room, style, and timeline, and books a discovery call. [Interior design](https://insertchat.com/industries/interior-design)
- **Answer practice questions without clinical advice.** A prospective client asks about fees, availability, and how the first session works. The assistant answers from your published practice information and offers a consultation time; clinical questions go to your clinicians. [Therapy practices](https://insertchat.com/industries/therapy)
- **Collect event details for rental requests.** Someone planning a June wedding asks about tent sizes and delivery to their venue. The assistant answers from your rental catalog and policies and collects the date, venue, and guest count for your team to confirm. ## Which Squarespace plans support the chatbot code?

Squarespace offers code injection on its Core, Plus, Advanced, and some legacy billing plans. Check your plan before you start; the install code goes in the Footer field of the Code Injection panel.

## Will the chat appear on my Squarespace checkout?

No. Squarespace doesn’t support custom code on checkout pages, so the chat appears on your other pages. Answer shipping, booking, and return questions earlier, on your product, service, and policy pages.

## The chat doesn’t show in the Squarespace editor. Is it broken?

Check the live site. Squarespace notes that custom code can interfere with the editor preview, and you can turn off scripts in the preview without changing your live site. Then run Verify on your website in InsertChat with a published page URL.

## Can visitors book an appointment in the chat?

Yes, once you connect a calendar. InsertChat books into its built-in calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, or Cal.com, and you choose whether booking actions run on their own or wait for your team.
